Harness Racing Day Camp - A Magical Summer Day
An amazing experience for adults, children over 10 (unless accompanied by an adult) or the whole family! This unique day will take you through a day in the life of a racehorse groom - from cleaning the horse (and his stall), harnessing and actually driving the horse on Pinette’s beautiful matinee track. Only four participants will be booked each day, giving you lots of well supervised horse time and a day tailored to your experience level
Want more than one day? You’ll learn something new every time you work with these majestic animals and feel more comfortable every time you take the reins and drive.
Bookings are now being accepted for select days July 1st to August 22nd. The fee is $50 per day, per person. Larger groups can be accommodated if booked well in advance.
Call 902-894-6511 for more information, or to reserve.
Over 90 people attended the rescheduled Awards Banquet at the CDPEC on January 9th, including the Minister Of Agriculture, Neil LeClair and his wife Edie.
Clair Sweet accepted the Department Of Agriculture trophy for the Matinee Championship winner on behalf of Alyre Arsenault, owner of Alotta Dot, this year’s champion. Alyre was very disappointed that he couldn’t attend due to health problems and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Jessica MacMillan received the Rookie Of The Year Award, and Rising Star Awards were presented to Dylan Andrew, Brandon Darrach, Corey MacPherson, Sean MacSwain, Tyler Moore, Patrick Shepherd, Brad Smith, Nick Oakes, Devon Wallace and Kuri White.
A special Owner Of The Year Award, courtesy of Standardbred Canada, rewarded Byron Gamester for his support of the Matinee Program. He raced Step On Nanny at every matinee track in the province which made the mare the top points earner of 2007. His daughter Heather finished second with SDs Pleasure and Leo Bernard was a close third with Little York Ed.
